If you are looking to add a newly created page to your header, footer or any other WordPress menu, first log in to WP Admin dashboard and follow the instructions below.

In WP Admin left menu, you’ll see all kind of options. Hover over Appearance and select Menus. Usually, the main header menu is predefined and already selected. If it’s not, there should be a dropdown where you can select the menu you want to edit (header, footer, etc). Below “Add Menu Items” there are 4 options to choose from. Pages, Posts, Custom links, Categories. Click on “Pages” and check the page you want to appear in the header menu and then click “Add to Menu”.

After you’re done with all the menu changes, click the blue button “Save Menu” in the bottom right corner.

There’s no any menu in the dashboard?

If you just installed your WordPress, it may happen that menus are not predefined. In this case, you’ll see “Menu Name” option and an empty field next to it. Type in the name of your menu. It could Main, Header or any other name you prefer. From the “Menu Settings” below, select “Primary” (primary is usually used for the top header menu). Now click “Create Menu” and then you can start adding menu items, pages, posts etc…

In the same way you can add more menus to different locations specified by your theme settings. For instance, in the “Menu Settings” you may see locations such as footer, mobile navigation (menu for mobile devices only, sidebar menu etc..).

Sometimes, the footer menu is labeled as “Secondary”. It all depends on how the theme author labeled it.

Feel free to experiment, you can always revert changes by editing or deleting menus or menu items.
