Best Multi Purpose WordPress Themes in 2016

With premium WordPress themes you can significantly cut down the website development costs because each theme comes with pre-made pages or elements (sliders, forms & other features) that could be reused over and over again. From that point of view, they are certainly worth every penny. So if you’re looking to have your new WordPress site up and running and still not sure what theme to use, check out my reviews below. These themes are handpicked, tested and extremely versatile, suitable for any type of business or a personal website.

Avada – Multipurpose WordPress theme

The best selling theme of all times on Envato Market. Over 200.000 sales so far! My personal pick when it comes to website development, I’ve used it on 30+ design/redesign projects. It comes with features that will cover most of your needs. It’s optimized for WooCommerce so you can easily start selling online. The design is modern and can be adjusted to pretty much any style and form, from one page site style to clean, corporate or any other desired layout. Simply ideal for everything… agency, eCommerce, portfolio site, restaurant etc… and of course, the theme is fully responsive, so you won’t have worry about how it will look like on mobile devices.

It’s well documented, retina ready (sharper images on Apple devices) and affordable for anyone’s budget.

The X Theme – Multipurpose WordPress template

With 97.000+ sales and more features than Avada, the X Theme will sooner or later become a #1. I tested this theme and so far, it simply works better than Avada. The authors even managed to fill the gaps and add most of the features that are not present in the Avada theme. Need to clarify, that I haven’t yet tested this theme on live site(s), only on the production server. There are around 30 awesome layouts which you can select and/or combine them to be your primary site design. The back-end option panel is highly intuitive and user friendly so there’s no need for coding knowledge. As all other premium themes, this one is also responsive and SEO optimized. It’s compatible with WPML, WooCommerce, BuddyPress, Gravity Forms and can be used for a company site, blog, gallery, portfolio or for any other business or personal purpose. The X Theme capabilities are pretty much unlimited and the interface will help you to fully unleash your creativity.

The X theme price is affordable and slightly higher than Avada, obviously with a good reason.

BeTheme – Multipurpose WordPress Theme

The BeTheme is another rising star on the ThemeForest market. 31.000+ sales with an average buyer rating of 4.78 / 5. What makes this theme different is that it comes with believe it or not 190+ pre-made layouts. The variety of different styles & designs makes it one of the biggest WordPress themes you can find online (I mean currently, because the competition never sleeps). It’s suitable for Business, Entertainment, Creative niche, Blogs, Portfolio pages, One page sites, eShops or for anything else you had in mind for your next project.

The BeTheme is compatible with WPML, WooCommerce, BuddyPress, Gravity Forms, Easy Digital Downloads, Events Calendar and it comes with Muffin Builder 3 & a Visual Composer so you can easily build pages by adding elements you wish to appear on the page (drag & drop, no coding skills required).

Ronneby – High-Performance WordPress Theme

Finally something fresh on the market. What I like with this stylish theme is that it’s not just easy to use, it’s also made to provide the highest possible performance. It loads fast and could be used as a decent starting point for the further speed optimization process. It comes with approx. 45+ pre-made layouts/demos which you can import and choose the one that is suitable for your field. The demo designs are elegant and professionally done, so I don’t have any doubts that with this theme you could easily cover both corporate and creative projects. The Ronneby theme was created in 2015 and in less than a year, more than 7.600 themes were sold. With a little bit of work, you’ll be able to populate it with your own content and make the site look unique.

It’s compatible with WPML, WooCommerce and comes with integrated Visual Composer. This theme can be yours for only $59, which falls into a similar price range with other themes listed here.

Enfold – Responsive Multi-Purpose Theme

Another beautiful product from Kriesi’s kitchen. Optimized, nicely polished, with tons of variations & features that you can quickly adjust, in a matter of minutes. With over 88.000 sales, the Enfold is among top 10 best sellers on the Themeforest marketplace. Judging by the reviews, more than 90% of buyers are happy with what this theme has to offer, and so am I. Not so long ago, I had opportunity to use it on three projects as a starting point for further design, development & customization. This theme could be used for anything you imagine, but, the classic design is perfect for business & corporate projects. Enfold theme size is only 15 megabytes, which is a huge difference if you compare it with the other popular themes. It’s lightweight, fast and optimized for Google. It comes with features such as Ajax Instant Search, Parallax, page builder, 2D + 3D Layerslider and other standard features you can find in nearly every premium theme. Cross-compatible with all modern browsers, well documented & affordable for anyone’s budget.

Website choices? Which WordPress Theme is for you?

Sharpen that pencil and sit down! Begin to write a list of what you want on your website and what you want that website to be able to do. Go through other sites to see what features you like or don’t like. Then start to compare the things you like with what each WordPress theme has to offer. Some features can be added later but try to select a theme that has most, if not all, of what you are looking for.

So let’s say, you need a theme for a travel agency and in that case you’ll need a homepage, contact page, gallery, videos, online bookings etc.. and then, once you figure out what pages you would like to have on the site, you can start thinking about the features and check does the theme have everything you need (the slider, contact form, members area for instance etc..). If yes, then you can browse the theme layouts and see if there are any pre-made designs you like. Of course, the most proper way to do the planning work is to consult a WordPress Expert in order to save the time & money.
